Do you mean electro-chemical tinting?
I have seen it done on austenitic alloys, but not PH grades.

There are places that successfully created variable thickness in the chromium oxide layer to create a colored appearance (I assume in much the same way that Titanium is anodized), but that also means it will be very thin and therefore the cosmetic properties susceptible to abrasion.
