I have a SWx DT question. I need to control color of the part config. In the DT I am having a column $color and giving values of
For cfg1 - a value of 0 for (Black)
For cfg2 - a value of 255 for (red)

I dont see color changing. why?

I checked the help and learnt a way to manupulate RGB #s.
But for some of the configs If I go to the configurations and RMB>Properties. I can find that the Configuration specific clor unCHECKED. Wont let me check. How to control this from DT

This one is almost working. But one question still there. When you go to the property manger of any configuration, you can see a Advanced options at the bottom. There is a check mark that says that 'Use configuration spcific Color".

Now Situation :
When I add new configs in the DT, add new RGB values, this "Use CFG specific color" checkbox is NOT checked. I cant check it manually because its controlled by DT.

How to control this check box?

I would imagine that you need to give up control of color through the DT. side note, did you find the formula to convert RGB to the color code the the SW DT uses?

I have found that some things can be populated into a design table but can not be driven by it. For example I tried to suppress and unsuppress some dimensions.

What is your end goal? Their might be a workaround.

I hope this helps.

My parts have cfgs. Each cfg will need to be finsh painted with specific RAL color.
For instance, Grey for CFG-1, Black for CFG-2. I gave I have several cfgs. SO at assly level, the whole product will show up the specific color based on the part cfg.

See attached example. Works great for all the existing cfgs. I tried inserting new couple of cfg-rows at various locations like one between cfgs & one at all the way last row with different RGB colors.

Example :

new-cfg-1 : 200,75,100
new-cfg-2 : 25,215,125

I am unable to have the model change colors. Can please you try?

DD - You can see the formula in the spread sheet.

I have 2 macros that might be able to help. The first one saves out each configuration as a separate file. The second one then throws all of the files in a specified folder into an assembly and mates all the planes. It also can choose a color based on a table for each part.

I believe that the configuration one was from the message boards. The other one I know a colleague made for me. If you want them I will check with him for you and assuming a thumbs up I will post them.

I hope this helps.

BluTurtle ... post the file here so we can test on other installations ... or investigate what's wrong.

Rob,
I will give it a shot. Kindly post it for me. Thanks

I've seen cases where the current color gets applied to all configs when going to edit the design table.

For some reason the colors need to be specified in Configuration Properties. When you create the Config or go to it's properties select the color button and set it their. Define custom will allow RGB values to be entered. When you edit the table the $color option will be set
after this point you can select Edit Feature for Design Table and select to Block updates from Model to maintain the Color value. I'd suggest copying the values for Color into a commented Column incase SolidWorks resets them to be same as Default.

This falls into the realm of what should be but is not. If you add Mass data parameters to design table. Once you go back to SolidWorks those Text values become driven by Design Table value text and are no longer associative. Try not to add those driven Model or Config Parameters when taking the CSWP test.

Thanks a lot CBL for the spread sheet. It was useful in my work. I notice that when I add new cfg with new color to the DT. It would not reflect the new color. Instead it had the color of the last previous cfg.

I spent some time investigating how to bring check mark "Use cfg specific colr". It wouldnt let me check that because DT was controlling.

Temporarily, I inserted a blank col before $color. and closed the DT. Now, selected all the CFG's and ensure it had the check mark. Went back to DT, del the blank row. Not the new CFG had new color. :)

Thanks for your support.

You shouldn't have to do that. Just entering the new config data and RGB colours, and copying the $COLOR formula cell (Ctrl D) from above works for me.

I expected the same. But Any new cfg that I add thru DT, this option is unchecked. I finally had to do this work around. Thx.
