Dear mates,
The wooden support showed in the attached picture received termite attack and is collapsed.
So, please could you advise what is a suitable wooden or not material to replace it.
Thanks.

Well - if it was designed for "cold service", it apparently didn't get cold enough if there were termites. In my part of the world, ambient cold temperatures for 4+ months keeps the termites at bay.

Perhaps you could do us all a favour by providing some design details: load (stress), temperature, requirement (or not) for conductivity limits (electrical and/or thermal), etc...

Hi TGS4,
Have further information : Weight of PV (full of water) is 21 Ton, Design Temp -29/+100, no other requirements.

You can use azobe wood and when the force downwards isn't too big,
use 'floormate' polystyrene.

I believe termites are adverse to pressure treated lumber. I think the treaing chemical is Copper II Sulphate.

Painted steel is very termite resistant.... Does not have to be new material......

Mr. Cronin,

Steel is not a very good insulation.

Thanks for all inputs, actually we decide to look for azobe what is common in Nigeria or for one sintetic product recommended by TORGY from UK.
