Hi

I just graduated from school and have started a job. My boss is assigning me to figure out if we are required by Building code or Fire code or Electrical code (Any code) we are required to build a room for a Natural Gas Fire Generator (A small one).

The whole story is that client want to put a small Natural Gas Fire generator in their warehouse in the plant. Do we need to build a room by any code to place the generator in warehouse or it can be just located there without having surrounding walls?

Please if anyone has experience and know that I appreciate the direction. I am lost in codes.

Regards,

Are you asking if your client is required to have a room that requires separation for a natural gas fired generator (I think you accidentally dropped the letter "d" in fire).

If my assumption about your question is correct, answer the following questions:

A) What loads are connected to the generator?
B) Are these legally required emergency power or standby power loads? Also, what's small? Tell us the rated capacity of the generator.
C) Is the project in the US, and if so, what codes are adopted?
D) You indicated the building is a warehouse. Do you know the occupancy classification?

Post your answers and I'll see what I can do.
