Any recommendations on publications/reference material addressing CMU retaining walls? Specifically, landscape retaining walls varying from 2' to approximately 6'. Client wishes to install stone facing over the CMUs, therefore segmental block walls (keystone, etc) are not an option.

Look into a system called Lock+Load. It may have the look your Client desires.

The hard copy of the March-April 2005 issue listed dozens of manufacturers of various systems.

G to the library for an older edition (or shmoze an architect freind for a newer edition) of the AIA Craphical Stanards. They have lots of information and details on low height retaining walls

I just designed one of these for a client's backyard (9' tall, 60' long). It turned out really sharp, and all I had to design was the standard lateral retaining CMU wall and footer. Yours is such a small wall, that you will probably have very little trouble with the sizes and calcs. The ACI 530 was all I needed for the CMU wall, and I checked the whole system for the standard - overturning, sliding, bearing, etc. The veneer was done by a company called "eldorado stone."
