We are constructing a project where construction of building cores will proceed prior to construction of connected floor beams and slabs. Bars with couplers shall be provided at the locations of connected reinforcement. The designer said that there is no other precaution to be followed at these connections. Is this true? In some cases, we have connected elements of 12.0m spans. Depending on shear friction in this case for shear resistance, is it a wise decision?

No. Connections to the cores should be rebated into the walls. Proprietary systems are normally used, which are called 'reboxes' or variations thereof.

Thanks hokie66. can you direct me to reference to site or document of that system?
