Cliff notes on how all H&H software work?

I was wondering if any of you would have a good link to a website which kind of boils down how each program works and how they communicate with each other. I use a lot of H&H softwares such as Hec-1 and Hec-ras, HYDROCAD, WSPG, WISE tools, WMS & supporting mapping tools such as Arc and Autocad.
I would like to review how each of these programs function, what basic H&H equations they are based on and such. Any direction would be appreciated.
