Hello Fellow Civ-Es:

I was wondering if anybody out there is a licensed civil engineer and registered architect. I'm an architect with a degree in civil engineering and an EIT certificate, and I'm researching how to set myself up to sit for the PE exam; I'm trying to understand how best to document the engineering coordination work that I did over the past 12 years with our MEP, structural, and site civil engineers while I was managing architectural projects and consulting with the engineers. I'm currently working at a civil and environmental engineering firm, serving as the lead architect, and qualified to serve as an engineering tech. Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

Contact your state board directly, and ask them. Every state is different with what they want to see in regards to documenting your engineering experience.

I don't know about the rules in your state, but in Alabama you have to have 4 continuous years of responsible charge working under a directing PE before you can take the PE exam. In your recent work experience have you been able to meet this typical requirement? Best of luck with your registration attempt research.
