I'm looking for some rules of thumb or advice on placing vertical wall control joints along a wall length, considering openings and proximity to corners.

I have the PCA document "Building Movements and Joints" but it didn't cover everything as thoroughly as I'd hoped (about 3 pages). We don't do many CIP concrete walls out of our office so I'm wondering if you guys can offer some advice on joint placement. The PCA book shows control joints over the middle of openings. Do you find any problems with placing joints here from an engineering pov, any special considerations for a seismic category D, occupancy category 4?

I'm intending to detail the joints with alternating horizontal bars continuous through the joint.

I used to have a PCA (I think) publication with the same/similar title and it was a booklet of 20 or 30 pages. I'll see if I can dig it up.
