Chrome-moly is an old outdated vage definition to a group of alloy steels. Today an alloy steel is defined by its UNS, DIN, ISO, AFNOR, AISI, SAE and many more specification number. You should define the alloy you need according to its standard definition such as AISI 4340 for example. When you say 1" what sre you refering too? Round?, square?

well i need a profile so 1" plate. This is an engineered stamped drawing and all thats stated is chrome-moly plate. I don't normally deal with the stuff except in shafting so i don't have much knowledge on plate grades. My guess would be 4130?? but theres also SA 387 Gr. 5,11,22 i see available. I was hoping to find a supplier to talk to, to get some info, unless anyone here can give some insight to this stuff. (availability, strengths, weaknesses, machinability etc.)

To better help you, what is the service for the part? Also have you asked the Engineer/Engineering Organization that stamped the drawing?

Its a 875 psig orfice plate. Ya i tried the eng dept. but they never seem to return calls

I would presume your material specification is

ASTM or ASME A/SA 387 plate. The specific grade of Cr-Mo plate would be selected based on service temperature. Do you know the service temperature?

If the oriface plate is used in steam or petrochemical plant service, I would think SA-387 Gr 11 or 22. If in oil/ field tubulars, it may well refer to 4130 or 4140. It is unfortunate that Engineers, and I use the term facetiously in this case, provide such ludicrous information for their material callouts; these were no doubt based on equipment purchased from a particular Vendor at one point in time, possibly as long ago as 30 to 50 years based on some of my own experiences.

If you're in the US, you might contact Arcelor Mittal or one of their distributors. Over the years, I've found the technical folks at Mittal to be very helpful.
