is there any other way to know the content of Cl-.
Thanks to every one.

Bhanu, That's a bit like saying what will this cake taste like based on my recipe...

Not possible without compositional analysis

My motto: Learn something new every day

Also: There's usually a good reason why everyone does it that way

Thank you LittleInch and Weldstan.

is there any thumb rule? I mean, if well is oil production this much cl content...if well is gas procuction this much content, we can consider.

Thanks for your valuable replies.

No, that's not right.

Report your actual results of the sample.

Oil varies from site to site, region to region, sometimes within the same field. To give you information, you need to tell your readers = the people who YOU asked the question of = what the sample results are.
