Does anyone have any tips on choosing time steps and other settings when doing Static Nonlinear analysis?

Currently I have a large model of a tank using shell elements. I am using a nonlinear analysis because inside the tank their are large flat baffle that undergo an upset hydrostatic pressure that would cause large deformations.

Does anyone have a tip that relates time-steps and convergence to the size or magnitude of force in a model?
