1. Chlorides of about 2000-3000 ppm are being observed in the lean amine of our amine regerator system. The existing sea water coolers in the system were checked for tube leaks and found no leaks. What could be the possible reasons for the same?

2. The reflux of amine regerator indicates amine presence against the desirable nil concentration. There is no physical foaming in the column and no appreciable pressure drop. What can be the reasons for this?

Look out for Cl SCC/pitting on stainless hx tubes.

You dont mention if this level of CL has risen suddenly.
Long term accumulation can occur since a lot of gas streams contains small amounts of Cl that gets trapped in the circulating amine.
For sudden changes in Cl it is normally due to leaks in salt water heat exchangers or it could also be due to that somebody used wrong source of Make-up water. The latter is very difficult to find out.
