I am designing a project to be constructed in China and I am looking for an electronic file that contains Chinese structural shapes (i.e. section properties) for use with my analysis software. I'm trying to avoid mass data entry. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

It's not the answer you're looking for, but maybe get in touch with a Chinese steel mill or a steel importer. If you can get all the details in a spreadsheet, you should be able to create an import file to your analysis program.

STAAD.Pro has the shape files for Chinese shapes in Access form. If you don't have it I think you can download the demo and get it.

That site is funny...

"We have the strong ability in the steel structure"

True - but the 'foreigners' have a laugh when we try to write in Indonesian, Thai or Chinese as well - you can only go so far with dictionaries. On our job in China, we had a friend who was an English teacher - he couldn't speak more than a few words! Written okay, but speaking - no way.
[cheers]

Thanks everybody for your help, I downloaded STAAD, couldn't figure out how to lift out their shape database. I wound up just entering everything into a spreadsheet by hand. It didn't take that long, and I would probably have wasted more time continuing to look all over the place. I think if I have more of this to do I'll consider purchasing STAAD.
