Hello,

I am running an ice rink in the UK and do not know how to calculate chiller size.

What would be the minimum Chiller KW, I could get away with as I am restrictions with power on site.

200sqm Ice Rink - 20m x 10m.
Outdoors with canopy over the top but not enclosed (no sides).
Open November, December and January months only.

Thank You :)

I'd start with obtaining ground and air temperatures for those months. Probably estimate the solar and people heat gain.

Heatgain from ground will be conduction. Heatgain from air will be convection.

That gives you the equilibrium capacity. With the volume of water and how fast you want it to freeze, you can calculate added capacity needed to cool down. That also should cover what the Zamboni machine needs to freeze.

This is just a guess since I have no experience.
