Does anybody know of a good Excel-based program for performing mass and energy balances that is not too expensive, ie. above $5000?

I found a demo at that seems OK and is free for up to 15 streams with recycle but I am looking at all options.

Thanks

What do you mean for mass & energy balance ?

For solving recycles etc. there are free simulators, see for example Coco Simulator (
For fluid properties / phase equilibria / simulation within Excel / Matlab / Mathcad I use mainly Prode Properties (
and so on...

Thanks Apetri,

That was helpful. I was mostly thinking about streams with recycle. I work mostly with solids and liquids and steam.

Check out DWSIM ...it has builtin spreadsheet plus an Excel properties addon ...much like Prode Properties
