I am creating a piping specification for concentrated sulfuric acid. We have Kynar for indoor applications, but for outdoor applications we intend to use Alloy 20 (Carpenter 20). From my research I have seen chemical compatibility tables that say that it is ok, questionalbe, and not acceptable. So I am asking any one with some knowledge or experience in this subject out there if Alloy 20 is suitable for piping approximately 90-94% concentrated sulphuric acid. The temperatures are ambient (-40F to 120F)

If the compatibility charts confuse you, contact the manufacturer of the Carpenter 20 and get their recommendation.

DanTheMan:

I would like to talk to you about the Kynar in more detail and why you don't use that in your outdoor systems as well. In addition, have you considered ASME Code stamped Kynar lined dual-laminate FRP vessels or towers? I know, its quite a mouthful... Another reason that I hope you contact me.
