changing industries

Feel like a black sheep here asking a non-technical question, but... I am a civil structural engineer, been in the business 3+ years; previously spent a year doing CFD for an environmental research group. I've had a whim/desire to go and try to do some aerospace structures, and so am wondering how feasible is it for someone with my experience to do so. I've heard of folks who switched over, but not many details about their qualifications. How much attention would my resume be given for an entry level position? Thanks in advance!

It might take some time to become familiar with the practices used in the aerospace industry. The modern aerospace industry does everything using very specific and controlled procedures. I've seen a few engineers starting out in aerospace that had difficulty adapting to this work environment. Definitely worth giving it a shot. Better to do it early rather than late in your career. And you can always go back to what you were doing before.

If you do find an engineering job in aerospace, just remember to be patient and follow procedures to the letter.
