changing abaqus .sel file to .fil and converting .fil to ascii format (for abaqus explicit)

I tried converting an abaqus explicit results file .sel to .fil, but even when I receive the notification that the job is completed, I cannot still see a new job file with .fil ending.

Actually the entire problem starts with getting results values from a processed abaqus input file and then I found out that for explicit cases, i need to convert the .sel file to .fil file. And then convert binary file .fil to ascii format. Only then can i access the required results. Please I would like to know how to add other lines of code like for node file and output file to print results for a specific node. Thank you as I look forward to receiving responses.

The following command should work: abaqus convert=select job=... Make sure the file is not somewhere around. But keep in mind that .fil is a legacy format meant mainly for use with external postprocessors. For regular output, .odb and .dat files are usually sufficient.

Thank you @FEA way, but I already did this and received notification that it was successful, but but I cannot still find the .fil file.
Please I need suggestions on how to go about this. Is there another suggestion on how to extract results from abaqus explicit analysis?

And please could you explain more about the meaning of .fil file being a legacy format file for external postprocessors.
