go to File Properties then Units and change Length Readout Precision. This change is per file not global, so if want the same for another file, you need to do the same. You can also change this setting in your template file so it like that all the time.

Anyone correct me if I'm wrong, but if you type a 4-digit value after the point, even though the length will show only as per the 2-digit precision setting, the actual value is as typed. Just dimension the line you made and change the precision setting for the dim in the SmartStep ribbon bar. You will see that your line is in fact 218.2342mm long.

Gemnoc is correct, the value you type is the value assigned to the length, regardless of what is displayed (but within the accuracy limits of Solid Edge).

Gemnoc you are correct but, i think what phudge is asking is, when you select the line, or dimension, have the correct decimal places show with out changing your precision setting every time. Is that correct phudge???

If that is so, then you need to change your precision as describe in my post aboove.

Yes that is correct and the above setting did just that, thanks! although knowing that even though it doesnt display the exact ammount it is still the correct length is going to save me lots of headaches in future!

Thanks guys!
