Good morning, gentlemen:
We have a WPS, due to customer request it is required to change the welding process: FCAW (E71T8) will replace SMAW (E 7018), The question is if we should make a new PQR. No impact required, Standard: ASME IX.

This feels like asking the obvious. Which parts or sections of ASME IX have you reviewed so far that gave you the impression that the welding process is or isn’t an essential variable?
