change geometrical set with script

hi

can anyone tell me how to move a element from one set to another via a script.

Example: I have a point in geometrical set.1 and i want to get it into geometrical set.2 just like if i used the 'change geomterical set' command.

I don't want to use cut, copy or paste as the geometry may have some children.
