I'm looking for any article which tells about the typical discontinuities that can be found on ceramic products, and which are the most relible NDT methods for detecting them.
Thank you for your help.

Problems on ceramics or in ceramics?

Many of them are similar to problems with cemented tungsten carbide and I can give you info on those if you wish.

I work for a company (IMCE) that specialises in non destructive measurement of ceramic materials.

The RFDA (Resonant Frequency and Damping) equipment we produce is designed to measure elastic properties and damping of different geometrical forms at different temperatures. Our equipments are unique in there ability to measure continuously up to low temperatures of maximum -200 °C or high temperatures up to maximum 1750 °C in different atmospheres (air, vacuum, inert, reducing).

All our equipments use the non-destructive Impulse Excitation Technique (ASTM E 1876). With this technique a light mechanical impact is used to induce the flexural -or torsional vibration of a test-piece. The vibration is measured using a microphone or laser vibrometer and is introduced in the RFDA software where the elastic properties and damping are determined.

If you send me an e-mail i can forward you some papers on discontinuities on ceramic products.
