I have a part that is requested to be made of graphite. This is what we do every day, but very seldom is it for something like this. It is hard to get a feel for when it is not made of metal. The max stress I get is 1.8e+6psi and it seems awfully high for something light. The part weighs about 19lbs with an outside diameter of 21" spinning at 1700 rpm. Do I have something wrong?

Your Young's Modulus should be more like 1.7e+6, instead of 1.7e-6. Check me on that, but I believe that'll get you going.
