When working with drawing views, does it make a difference in any way between the 2 different C/L buttons (one on the sketch toolbar & one on the annotations toolbar)? They have different button icons but it appreas they do the same thing. Is there a "correct" one to use for adding the C/L on drawing views?

Thanks in advance,

It's the same thing. I have mine removed from the Anno tool bar.

They have two destinct functions: The centerline on the annotation tool bar adds a centerline to a selected entitie within drawing mode. whereas the centerline on the sketch pallet is used to create symmetrical sketch elements, revolved features and construction geometry.

Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience every time.

Issues that I have been having:

Problem #1 - If I create a vertical or horizontal break in the drawing view, I can not add the C/L where I want it. If I hover over a hole it will attach the C/L where the hole "used" to be before the break. If I add the C/L before I break the view, the C/L does come with.

Problem #2 - In addition, the C/L will only pick up the center of the hole if I use the one from the Sketch T/B.

Bloodclot - It appears that you have to create the C/L before you add the break lines.

Problem #1 has been there for a while. I have turned in Enh Req 2 or 3 times for that in the past few years.
#2, interesting. I have not used that one. It will not create a CL for me, it just picks the center point.

Ahh, I see what Heckler is saying.
The Anno CL works in side profile of hole in a dwg view.
The Sketch CL will work anywhere else.
But yes, the CL will have to be inserted before a break.

This is what has been working for me. PITA, but it seems to work.

1. Add the C/L using the one from the sketch TB (if you want hole centers)

2. Then break the view (if applicable)

3. If you change something about the broken view and the C/L moves on you then right click the view and select unbreak.

4. Highlight the C/L so you can grab the endpoints and drag the the circle center again.

5. Right click the view and select break view again and the C/L is now associated with the hole center again.

Definately worth the ER. I have now sent one as well. If anyone elso would like to help get this fixed please chime in with an ER of your own for the same problem. Another good example for a sticky thread for just enhancement requests.

Thanks,

Did you know that in a drawing if you click the Centerline button on the Annotations toolbar, then go to a view and LMB inside the View border but outside the part...Centerlines will automatically be added to all the holes in that view.

Ken

Yes, I know that. Also, if you LMB inside a view border but outside a rather large assembly (such as one might do to clear selections, move a view, switch focus back to SW from some other program, etc), SW will lock up for approximately 5ever while it searches the entire assembly for cylindrical faces and adds a centerline to each. I've gotten in the habit of hitting Esc about four or five times before hitting the centerline button. There should be a confirmation message box before SW adds all those centerlines. Strangely enough, there is no such functionality for centermarks.

KenBolen - I was not aware of that function. Thanks very much.
