I am working on a few different 2d assy drws and I am having a problem with just one of them. On the other drawings, I previously was able to click on the Centerline icon, select an existing view, and then have all of the centerlines appear. It doesn't seem to be working. Any suggestions?

It works here! I just select the Centerline icon and select a view... walla centerline.

Have you tested this file on another system?
Have you tried other files on your system?

This will help out file specific or station.

Are you using layers? Is it possible that drawing has the current layer hidden?

I tried the file on another system and the centerlines still will not work. I checked and I do not have any layers hidden (I've made that mistake before). I am able to put the centerlines in manually, one at a time, by picking two lines and then the centerline comes in between. I opened one of my other assemblies, made a new view, picked the centerline icon, then hit the view and the centerlines worked. So it is something that is wrong inside this particular drawing file, I just can't figure out what.

You wrote it was a 2D dwg. Is the part a 3D model or drawn/imported DXF in the dwg? If so, the centerline will not work. If it is a solid part, it should work. Check to see if annotations are on ... under "view" and/or in the feature manager tree.

The drw file is of a native solidworks file, no imports. I checked and it looks like all of the annotation settings are correct (same as my drawings that the centerlines will work on). Also, the manual/individual centerline input works so I don't see it as being an annotation setting problem. I tried loading a new sheet format and that didn't help anything. The drw file was saved in 'large assembly mode' but I have turned that off, saved, reopened the file and the centerlines still will not work.

and the part file is a native SW file, not import?

Havey ou tried the above FAQ's I posted? If so, then send your VAR a RX and have them look into the issue.

If not, then try those FAQ's first... I believe the problem is on your system and not SW.

The part file is native solidworks as well.

I haven't tried the FAQ's you posted because I didn't think it could be a system thing. Why would the centerlines work on every other drawing file except for this one and why would the same problem be happening on different computers and only with that same file? Some of the other files are alot more complicated and they all contain the same type of parts. I ended up copying another one of my assemblies, erasing all the existing views and then remaking all of the views from the file that didn't work. Centerlines work fine on the new drawing.

Time is the problem, kind of on a deadline. I will definitely have someone try them though to see if that is the problem and will report back.

You have spent more time writing this post, then it would have too perform the FAQ's

Repair and or modify takes anywhere from 30 seconds to 15 minutes.

Alternative reisntall takes about the same, for someone new to the registry takes about 30 minutes.

Do try them and contact your VAR if you are at a Deadline.
