Fang, Foundation Engineering Handbook (2nd Edition) - I think that the first edition, Winterkorn and Fang actually had a whole chapter on cofferdams.

Nothing wrong with hand calcs, I typically use the software as a check.

Check out Foundation Engineering Handbook by Winterkorn & Fang, 1975, Chapter 14 Cellular Structures and Braced Excavations written by T.D. Dismuke, formerly of Bethlehem Steel Corporation. This chapter may also be in the newer edition of the book by Fang.
