I am looking at cleaning up several caustic streams for reuse. We are going to use MF and/or UF membranes for organics and solids, but we would like to also remove chlorides. We have approximately 30 gpm of a 4% caustic stream to work with (100 - 120 'F).

I have only seen on outfit claiming they can do this using special IX methods. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Allied Chemical developed an electrodialysis process variation with bipolar membranes several years ago that may help you out with your problem. There are two product streams; one acidic and one basic.

I have lost track of who owns the technology now. This may be you only alternative to the IX process.

Good luck.
