Hello all,

Catia V5 has the option to isolate views on drawings. Unfortunately you can not relink a view to a part once it has been isolated. Therefore Im very carefull with using this option. On the other hand by isolating a view you can prevent a view from being updated by mistake. Catia V5 has the the strange ( but logic) habit to inform the designer that a drawing needs to be updated when you open the referenced part and for instance open a feature, lets say a chamfer, and close it again without changing the values of it. Would sombody like to advice me on this subject regarding best practices for view isolation.

Regards,

If you want the option to update it in the future I would recommend you to use "lock view" instead. It is still linked but will not be updated, the day you want to update it you just unlock it and update. You can identify the locked view with padlock symbol on their icon in the tree. Very useful if you have a large assembly. You can find that option in the property of the view.

Belallali - Are you using Scenes or selecting only the items to apply to the drafting view?

Regards,
Derek
