A friend of mine at a local large custom package company came to me with an inquiry. The cad file he receives for very hot "2 day tops" parts are translated from catia (customer) to MDT6 (His) with a "off the shelf translater". NONE OF THIS CAN BE CHANGED OR MODIFIED. The OPERATION, he needs to take a quick section of the 3d surface model for packaging. The PROBLEM, translated file turns catia nice surfaces into lots of smaller ones (no catia original surface is square or straight and that doesn't help) and no Stitching, quilting, and or healing, at any stitch gap tolerance helps, and then some whole surfaces are lost completely! And to top it off some of the stitching takes hours and then only gives pieces of sections. The NEED, is to take a maybe semi (hopefully fully) surfaced model and cut a quick section. Some fix up will be ok, but he needs something almost completed to break even on some jobs! I have MDT4 but I just started reviewing the problem now, question, can I insert a cutting plane surface and force MDT to display everything that crosses the plane? Easier way? Any way:-)
Right now just wandering and testing.
Thanks, take care.

You should have post this thread in the Catia Forum, it would have been easier to get an answer there ;-) FrenchCAD

How would a catia user know what a mdt6 user is doing?
