Hello,

*I'm a beginner with catia v5. I would like to draw in part design a cylinder which is deformed,
but I didn't manage to do it.I thought about a revolution however It doesn't work.
A schematic drawing of the cylinder is given below.

* Anybody knows how to display the unit of a dimensioning in a drawing?
Thank you in advance for your help

Not much detail in the attached picture, so here's one way to make a part like that:

Using the Part Design workbench:
1. make a sketch of the centerline (spline) of the curved cylinder
2. at one end of the centerline, add a plane normal to the curve and then make a sketch of the end of the cylinder.
3. Use the RIB command to sweep the end sketch along the centerline sketch to make your cylinder.

In CATIA V5, drawing dimensions are not based on the working units (Tools + Options) of the part or drawing. Dimensions are based on the "description" which defines how dimensions are displayed on a drawing.

There are two things that affect dimensions units on a drawing:

1. Use FILE + Page Setup to choose a Drafting Standard. (use ANSI or ASME for inch dimensions; use JIS or ISO for millimeter dimensions)

2. To change the way dimensions are displayed, have your system administrator create a company standard and set that as the default. Otherwise, change the dimension's description to NUM.DINC (inch) or NUM.DIMM (millimeter).

Thank you, it works great

Hello,

It works well for creating a curved cylinder with the function RIB. However, I would like that
the face of the cylinder are flat instead of curved.Do you know how to perform this task?

Thanks in advance

Just cut the end with additional plane normal to the center line....

make sure the sketch plane (the plane used to make the profile sketch) is perpendicular to the center curve. The RIB should make a cylinder with square ends.

also, make sure you are using the KEEP ANGLE option for profile control
