Catia Importing Step to Closed Shell

I am having to translate some models from Pro/E to Catia and when I import the step files into Catia sometimes the model says MANIFOLD_SOLID_BREP and sometimes it says CLOSED_SHELL in the tree. Can anyone explain to me what the difference is between the two and are both forms in fact solids or is the closed shell surfaces?
