catdrawing dimensioning and measuring question

I received catdrawing and catproduct data from a supplier and I tried adding a dimension as well as measuring the catdrawing data and was unsuccessful. At the top level of the catdrawing tree there is the torn document icon. I unlocked and updated the views with no luck. Any ideas?
I do receive an error message which starts out stating something about associative dimensioning.

The torn document icon indicates to me the link is broken between the CATDrawing and the CATProduct.
Go to Edit -> Links and come back with the status of the links.
