Casing volume 1

I have been given a list of about 30 pumps for which i must find the volume of process contained within the casing. i cannot locate this specific data for but a handful of the pumps. is there some sort of "rule of thumb" we can go by here, or am i giong to need to get on the phone with 15 or so potentially out of business vendors?

the pumps are both ansi and api. the purpose of the project is to determine the amount of process that is vented/flared when the casings of these pumps are cleared. saving the environment.

Seems like nobody can offer you much assistance - so here are some thoughts.
1. How accurate do you need to be with the volumes.
2. If close enough is ok - measure the mean casing (volute)diameter and width and make a rudementary volume calculation.
4.Measure and calculate the volume of the pump inlet and discharge branches and add to the volute calculation.
5. Forget about the impeller volume and you will end up with a worst case volume.
6. If you already have the detail for some of the pumps - apply steps 1 - 4 and compare the calculation with the known information.
7. Don't forget to add in any product which will be in the inlet and discharge pipelines.

Thanks for the advice. I ended up chatting with some mechanical engineers here and we determined that the accuracy initially asked for was ridiculous, so I did almost exactly what you've recommended.
