Captive Screws w/o Retainer

Is anyone here familiar with a captive screw system that would not require installing a retainer?

We have already had the doors made up and came across a line item in the customer spec that got missed in manufacturing that required captive screws to attach 12GA Breaker Doors to the enclosure.

The holes are already cut so tolerance would be an issue in adapting captive screws that use a retainer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check out the W.M.Berg, Nordic, PIC or Stock Drive Products catalogues. These have a series of captive screws that are inserted through tapped, centre bored holes. If you can tap the holes, you need no retainers.

The retention system is not absolutely reliable. Loose screws can work their way loose.

As above, use captive screws with tapped retaining holes.

Do it all the time here.

However, if your doors are relatively thin it may not work well.

Or, maybe you can use panel mounts of some kind
