The oven for sulfur capping compound started burning due to overheat.I tried to cool it down with wet burlap but the fumes were so strong that some of the fumes got it into my nose and accidently inhaled it.I would like to know whether if there r any health affects and if so what is the best
method to prevent these side effect. In addition I would like to know what is the thereshhold limit value and permissible limit value as per MSDS. Mohammed A Sharief

Effect should be temporary. The capping compound is noxious and causes acute lung irritation when the burning fumes are inhales, but it generally goes away shortly.

Be careful, though...it can seriously hurt you if you breathe enough at any one time.

Also, the flame that results when the capping compound burns is almost clear to light blue, so it is difficult to see it burning in a strong light. Be sure you have a good ventilation hood and have a fire extinguisher handy at all times. It is better to have to dispose of a batch of capping compound due to contamination than it is to seriously injure someone!
