Capacitive Level Measurement 1

Hi all,

I'm a newbee and glad to meet all of you.

In most Capacitive Level measurement instrument, got an inactive area(extra insulated probe, a little bit longer than the electrode). Does this really needed?

What is the benefit of this inactive area?

Do we have a regulation or formula tu calculate the length of the inactive area?

It prevents condensation and build-up on that portion from effecting your measurement.

Do it have certain formula for the ratio of the active & inactive area

There is no formula. It is application dependent. Your active region shouldn't be longer than your measuring range. If you are trying to find interfaces or doing something strange, talk to your vendor. At best they are informative and at worse they will mislead you towards a more expensive solution.
