Hi All,

I am designing a Canopy 60'x60' supported on 6 columns, 3 on each side. The columns are to be designed as cantilevered columns. My question is that will I have to use a K=2 to calculate effective length? Secondly in the beam column equation (canadian code) what value of U1 ( the factor which takes into account the P-delta effects, multiplied by Mf/Mr) should I use?

Thank you.

I recommend you use a K of at least 2.1.
