Cantilevered Concrete Deep Beam - Hanger Reinforcement

Ive got a cantilevered conc deep beam with a backspan (2x stories high), and will be providing hanger reinforcement along the cantilevered section, running vertically up from the lowermost slab to the next level.

Can this hanger reinforcement be lapped or does it need to have couplers? Preference would be to lap (even if the lap length has to be doubled),but keen to hear other peoples thoughts.

I would go for coupler on the basis that it's a tension tie (AS3600 13.2.1d) but not sure that's the only way to consider it so maybe not mandatory. At least call it 'good practice' IMO.
 
I don’t see any real issue with it being a full tension lap. I’d probably give it a full tension lap plus a bit for comfort!
