can't see references or save or import or insert

I seem to have had an error a couple of days ago and it's crippled my vbe big time.

the 'insert' option is completely gone from the menus, my file menu now has only 'export' and 'print', the 'tools' menu only has 'options', etc.

i can't change references, and so i can't do a lot of coding i need to do.

someone i know has seen this before in vb, and an old vb book he used to have (emphasis on 'used to') had a solution.

anyone have some old books that mention this problem? i have no idea how to fix this. at one point on the day this started, i was watching RuleStream run a calculation in solidworks, and i pressed ctrl-brk to see the code. when i clicked help on something, it asked me to choose a debugger (i think... i didn't look too closely). i cancelled the action, and now i've lost all these commands. has anyone seen this before?

1.Open a solidworks file by double clicking it.

2.Right click an empty spot near the menus or near a toolbar.

3. click on customize

4. Select the Menus Tab

5. Add what you need to the menus you need them on.

it worked! well... sort of. the menus in solidworks are fine. it's the menus in the vbe that were messed up. i forgot about the menu customization.

any ideas as to why the things disappeared in the first place?
