When I import a part into an assembly I cant drag it about.

It isn't fixed and doesn't have any moving parts to the solve as flexible isn't an issue, it simply cant be dragged about!

I've never had this issue before so am perplexed. I'm using SW 2014 in a small assembly.

Any thoughts?

Right-click on it in the tree and select "float".

The part is set to 'float' still no joy. It is just a construction outline for a part, does that make a difference?

If it's a 3D sketch, perhaps you brought it directly into the assembly, so it is fixed relative to the assembly planes. You probably want to import it into a part, then bring the part into the assembly, floating. Then you should be able to move it around.

I imported it as a part and it is set to 'float' but still no movement.

Maybe throw in a small bit of solid geometry into the part. The problem may be that SW is not recognizing the sketch geometry as something valid to grab onto and drag.

Thanks I threw in a bit of solid geometry and it works!

I couldnt find any setting in the Sketch Settings menu to change to move sketches.
