I just tried to run a simulation of a rigid sphere dropping into a container using a body force but to my surprise I keep getting the following error,

Invalid load type on element 1 instance sphere-1. Load type bz is not valid for element type r3d3

I can find any mention of such a restriction in the documentation.

Apply it to the refnode. Same counts for artificial mass (point mass).

Hi,

Did you manage to solve the problem? I'm trying to do a similar thing (crushing a vehicle roof with a rigid plate moving downwards; see ECE R29 or FMVSS 216). My plate is analytical rigid with a ref point but Abaqus Explicit tells me it can't proceed because the node / RP to which I assigned the velocity is shared between domains.

I'll share a solution when / if I find one.

cheers
Jo
