Canopy Wind Pressure Coefficients

The FAQ in the "Guide to the use of the wind load provisions of ASCE 7-12" (don't have the -05 one yet) recommends using roof overhang coefficients for balconies, which are essentially the same as canopies.

ASCE 7-05 appears to have added Figures 6-18(MWF) and 6-19(C&C) for "Free Roofs". Is a canopy (or a balcony) a free roof with "Obstructed Wind Flow"?

If you can get a copy of the SEAW's Handbook RSM-03. On page 28 it details the various canopy pressures. It based on the ratio of building height and canopy height. As best as I can tell ASCE does not reference canopies.

When the wind blows toward the building face it is obstructed, when the wind blows parallel to the building face it is not obstructed (unless there are side walls). Check both.
