Cannot see parts inserted in parts on BoM

I cannot get the SW Bill of Materials list up parts that have been inserted into other parts.

The construction of the parts is generally weldments with sheet metal & extruded flanges inserted.

Am I missing something or will SolidWorks simply not find parts inserted as parts?

No. A BOM only shows parts/subassemblies of an assembly.

Its still 1 part...if you want them to be 2 parts, build them that way.

Thanks handleman, I was hoping to be able to keep these as parts but looks like I will have to construct them as assemblies.
