Okay this is going to sound extremely retarded but I cannot cut through a part.

Before I begin explaining the problem let me say I have restarted SW and restarted the whole computer several times.

I am on a part file. I draw a circle on the top plane and click on Extrude Cut. I can manipulate the cut length (or do up to surface, offset from surface, etc) but then when i click OK i get a popup that says "Rebuild Errors: The Feature failed to cut the body."

At this point, I feel like smashing the mouse. Ive had 2 other ME's look at this problem and we are all stumped. The sketch is clearly okay ready to go and it SHOULD cut, however, something is up, and we dont know what it is.

Help.

unfortunately i cannot due to company policies. Sorry, i know it makes it harder without an image. Im going to make a part that looks similar to my problem. Give me a minute.

Hello uGlay,

Is the big disc a "surface" as opposed to a "body"?

Cheers,

just a WAG, but wouldn't what appears to be a hollow tube (the "cut")leave an unattatched piece in the center that SW can't resolve?

Did a little experimenting..this seemed to work OK

uGlay ... Are the disc and boss/cylinder separate bodies? If so, make sure you selecting the disc body in the bodies section of the cut-extrude manager.

An easier way may be to select the face of the disc when making the cut.

gatz ... It's the two yellow forms which are making the cut, not the boss.

[cheers]

theyre bodies, I tried selecting all bodies or the specific body and no dice.

I have moved on and into another feature and I am able to do extrude bosses no problem but cannot do any more cuts.

Okay. Success.

I found that there was a point in the assembly that if i rolled back I could execute Extrude-Cuts, but if i rolled forward past that point, I couldnt do ANY Cuts. So the point at which this happened was where there was a group of 5 or 6 fillets added by the last M.E. (which are unnecessary at this point and can be added later with no incident) and I deleted them, rolled forward and the cuts were able to be executed.

Glad to hear you have a fix. I asssume that was for the original part you could not show us, but what about the simple part you did show.

[cheers]

Yeah that was for the original file. Now I have to look at an older version and replicate the fillets later on... but that's cake.
