Hi All,

We are doing air conditioning for ships and as per owner spec, the piping should be copper piping. Is it possible or allowable to use copper pipe. If its yes please let me know the advantages and disadvantages of using it.

Regards,
Giri

above 2", copper is a hell of an expensive commodity.

The answer is yes you can, the only difference if the pressure drop

Thanks for your reply Mr.cry22(Mechanical) . Yes I accept the cost of the pipe is quite expensive. But the owner is ready to pay. So we don't have any problem.

Regards,
Giri

Another thing to consider is galvanic corrosion. I would think you'd be insulating the HVAC piping anyway, but I imagine you'd want some level of protection against corrosion.
Not having experience with HVAC installations on ship either, hopefully someone with ship experience can weigh in on this factor.

Thanks for your reply Mr.dbill74.. :-)
