I have a situation where I will need pin or micro piles to extend approximately 2 or 3 feet into bedrock. Can this be achieved by driving them or will they need to be drilled? Most references that I can find indicate that they would need to be drilled.

The chances zare that hey will buckle without being drilled.

Most micropiles are drilled and grouted. Often, helical piers are screwed in without grout, but not into rock. Usually piles can't be driven into rock unless it is soft or highly weathered and then the penetration may be limited.

You would not be able to drive a micropile into bedrock no. It would have to be drilled in and grouted.

You definatly have to drill. you can pre drill and drive or you can use a Titan Bar drill and grout as you go, there are many options.
