I've used Alumina for ballasting electrodes in an RF plasma generator. BN has some better mechanical and thermal properties I could use. How does it repond to RF fields?
I've also seen a material called Shapal-M (which is AlN and BN mixture) - any knowledge of use in RF apps?

I am not sure abou the RF fields but boron nitride doesnt have the structural stabiliy that alumina has. Boron nitride is chauky and powders quite a bit.

thanks 13. So BN is not suitable for diamond machining to give a sub micron surface roughness?
Ever heard of this Shapal-M by Tokuyama?

If yarn/thread of alternating Boron and Carbon fibres can produce 2X properties of either single element (compressive/tensile strength/stiffness)
Why are such small volumes being produced? So expensive?

Has any one tested produced a tri-yarn such as berylium, boron and carbon (with respect to thermal, eletrical and structural properties?
