Can Al 6061-T6 with a Mil C 5541 surface coating on it be used for natural gas environment?

Hi,

Does anyone have experience with cast Al 6061-T6 be used in natural gas environment with about 50 ppm H2S? If required we can have it Mil C 5541 surface treated. If not, what would be a better material choice?

MIL-C-5541 has been replaced by MIL-DTL-5541 for a long time. Since it does not specify anything but resistance to salt spray corrosion and does not specify chemistry it is best to contact a specific manufacturer. They should have a chemist on staff who can provide specific guidance.
