I'm looking for a good book that explains really well the principles of camshaft/cam profile design. Which will hopefully include: calculations/maths, types of cam, materials, manufacturing, applications, etc....thanks

Aled87,

Get a copy of "Cam Design & Manufacturing Handbook" by Norton, or "Introduction to Engine Valvetrains" by Wang. Both are good technical references and are current.

As I recall from college I though that cam design was interesting until my teacher taught us the basics in about 15 minutes. Any good mechanical engineering mechanism text will get you 95% of the way there. I would check out the following books if you wish to get really deep into the subject:

And there I was thinking the subject was complex.

I forgot what I was going to say
